From The Principal

Brendan Franzone - Principal

Wongutha CAPS has been built on a solid foundation on the back of those who have gone before. At the very centre of our heart is that young Aboriginal men and women will come into a real and meaningful relationship with God through Jesus Christ and be an inspiration, encouragement and vessel of hope to others.

Vocational educational training is a core focus in preparing students to be work ready with the aim of them gaining skills and experience in a range of areas. Students choose a vocational area that they are interested in and begin a work readiness program. After this they begin work experience at least one day a week in town at a local business or organisation.

Training for life involves giving students the opportunity to function well whilst away from home and preparing them for life after schooling. Some of these areas involve developing confidence and resilience, good communication skills, tool and strategies for conflict resolution, health and well being and general life skills such as getting a driving licence.

It is a privilege to be a part of Wongutha and to see young men and women grow to continue to fulfill their potential. Students who come to Wongutha are expected to succeed, to grow and develop in practical ways, mental, social, emotional and spiritual. The blessing for me is the strength and quality of the relationships that staff and students have, as well as with students’ families. We continue to build our relationships with the communities both local and remote and look forward to developing these further.

I’d like to thank the Board for the honour of appointing me as Principal of this amazing school. The Board have a great heart for the students and pray for students and staff regularly. I’d also like to thank the students who come away from home to better themselves and also the families for entrusting us with their sons and daughters. Finally, I’d like to thank the staff for their heart and passion for the students and working as a team to fulfill the vision and mission of Wongutha CAPS.
