HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to respond to a first aid emergency in a range of settings. It covers how to assess an incident, provide effective first aid treatment, and manage life-threatening situations until medical assistance arrives.
Participants will learn CPR, use of an AED, and how to respond to common injuries and illnesses such as bleeding, fractures, burns, shock, asthma and anaphylaxis. The course also covers infection control, workplace first aid responsibilities, and incident reporting.
This nationally recognised unit is suitable for workplaces, community members, and students requiring first aid certification for employment or training purposes. Successful participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, in line with current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

The Volume of Learning for a HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid is to be delivered over a period of 2 weeks comprising of:
5 ½ Hours Practical a fortnight
10 ½ Hours Theory a fortnight
Total ‘Amount of Training’ is: 16’ hours Campus: Wongutha CAPS
Class Days: Thursday and Friday
Fees
Wongutha CAPS is funded through a combination of Commonwealth and state grants, along with ABSTUDY payments via Centrelink. Students are not required to pay any course or subject fees.

Entry Requirements
Learners must be physically capable of safely participating in Provide First Aid, including the ability to:
• Kneel and work on the floor
• Perform CPR and use an AED
• Bend, reach, and move safely
• Use your hands to apply bandages and slings
• Help position a casualty
• See and hear well enough to follow instructions
Reasonable adjustments may be available, but you must still demonstrate effective first aid skills.
